Just when I thought I'd grasped what was going on, Colleen Coble threw me for a loop. That's why I love her writing style so much! Her stories are never predictable and I fit the pieces together along with the characters. That's why I was so excited for a chance to review this book!
Speaking of the characters... Claire Dellamare and Luke Elwell are a great team. Claire is strong and beautiful, but when the trials comes, she doubts herself. Luke is handsome and sweet, and reminds Claire of all that she is. It took me a while to warm up to Kate. I could understand her feelings, but at times I think her longing to be a part of something made her rash and cold. They all brought together a well-rounded story that was exciting from beginning to end.
The message of the story is best summed up as this: "God gives you what you need, not necessarily what you thought you wanted." How true is this statement! Over and over again, things happen in your life (good, bad, and everything in between), people come and go, and God is there through it all, guiding you (if you'll listen) and giving you what He knows we need. Accepting what God gives you is not always easy because it might not be exactly what you wanted. Just remember, He knows what He's doing and He has your best interest in mind.
Overall, if you're looking for a romantic suspense with twists, turns, and a lot of love, Colleen Coble's The Inn at Ocean's Edge is the story for you. I can't wait to see what she cooks up next!
