Top Ten Tuesday | Books That Will Make You LOL

This week's topic: 10 books that made me laugh. Where to begin....(side note: I really need to do a better job of classifying my books on Goodreads. I can't remember all of the hilarious books I've read!)

1. Anything by Jen Turano will have you in stitches. They are light-hearted, action-packed, all around fun reads. A Change of Fortune was my introduction to Jen's hilarious books. 
2. Petticoat Ranch is the introduction to Mary Connealy's Lassoed in Texas series. Her books never fail to entertain me.
3. Karen Witemeyer has a gift for mixing humor with an encouraging, faith-based message. A Tailor-Made Bride was the first book I read by this enticing author.
4. Letter Perfect by Cathy Marie Hake is light-hearted fun, with an awesome message. All of her books are written in a similar fashion, and they are amazing.
5. Janice Thompson's books are HILARIOUS. I love her writing style. Every Bride Needs a Groom is an exemplary example of this.
6. Sushi for One? is absolutely hysterical. Camy Tang has a knack for writing quirky characters who have gone through really tough patches in their lives, but have an amazing sense of humor and faith.
7. Breaking away from the Christian genre, Janet Evanovich is one of my favorite authors ever. One for The Money is this first book in the riotously funny Stephanie Plum series.
8. Back to the historical genre, The Grand Sophy was my introduction into the hilarious writings of Georgette Heyer. The antics and situations her female leads find themselves in never ceases to amaze me.
9. While all of Becky Wade's books are fun and light-hearted, with a serious faith-based message, My Stubborn Heart sticks out as one of her more comedic books. The dialogue was highly entertaining.
10. Last, but certainly not least, Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series always cracks me up. While the book does address some common "coming of age" issues, it's appeal is the humorous dialogue and inner monologues of Percy Jackson. Start the series off by reading The Lightening Thief and buckle up for the ride!

There's my top ten picks. I'm sure there are a whole lot more books that I've read that have had me ROFL, but this is all I could think of! What about you? Read any funny books lately?

I'm choosing the same topic that the ladies over at The Broke and The Bookish chose: Top Ten Books I'd Like to Reread. I have to agree with them: "One of the perils of book blogging is that, thanks to constantly feeling obligated to keep up the flow of new reviews, it's almost impossible to squeeze in a reread when you have so many unread books on your shelf." This also lead to my blogging downfall. My goal this year is to get to all of the unread books on my shelf, and revisit some of my favorites! Here are the top ten I'd love to read again: 

1. Since I've already started re-reading this series, I'll place it in the honorary #1 spot: Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. I'm currently on #5. If you've never read the Stephanie Plum series, you should. They are hilarious. *Warning: there is adult language and some adult content. This is not a good book for you if you like clean fiction.*

2. The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie Omartian. I think this will be one of my "go-to" books for advice on being a Godly wife. I highlighted and made notes the first time through, and I'll only build my understanding the more I read.

3. Any of Mary Connealy's books are some of my favorite rereads. They never fail to entertain and make me laugh!

4. Dancing with Fireflies by Denise Hunter. I adored this book and I adore Denise Hunter. This is an obvious choice for a reread!

5. Dani Pettrey's Alaskan Courage series. I eagerly awaited each and every book as they came out, and I've read them several times through. I would love to read them again, and again, and again.....(you get the point).

6. The Lonestar series by Colleen Coble. These books launched my love of contemporary Christian fiction. I love visiting them again from time to time.

There are a lot of other books I want to re-read, because I need to purge my shelf. I need to decide if they are "keep-worthy" or not! So, this is just a glimpse of what I like to reread.

This Week's Topic: Ten bookish things i want to quit or have quit, specifically books we had to dnf (which I assume means "do not finish"). I try to avoid books that I know I will not finish, or not finishing a book once I start it at all costs. I hate to leave something un-done. There has only been one time that I have absolutely not been able to finish a book.

The description of this book sounded so exciting. Mystery, Intrigue, Secrets - what could possibly go wrong? I found this book the exact opposite of exciting. I'm not sure why. It just wasn't for me.

There have been a few books, since then, that I haven't wanted to finish, but was obligated to because they were for review. I am trying to be more selective with my review books, as a result.

This Week's Topic: Top Ten Authors on Auto-Buy. This is such an exciting topic! There are several authors that I will absolutely buy anything and everything they write because I love them so much. This list is just a short version. Colleen Coble and Mary Connealy were some of the first books I read in the Christian Fiction genre, and they changed my life!

1. Colleen Coble - I basically own and will not part with any of Colleen's books. The Lonestar Series was my first series by Colleen and I haven't looked back. She is a brilliant writer, mixing faith, suspense, and romance into masterpieces.

2. Mary Connealy - Laugh out loud funny. Every single one of her books has me in stitches. I love them and look forward to every new one she writes.

 

3. Jen Turano - Another laugh out loud funny author. Her books are witty and exciting. I just love them.

4. Dani Pettrey - One of my new favorites. I loved her Alaskan Courage series and am eagerly awaiting the release of her new series, Chesapeake Valor. 

5. Janet Evanovich - I love, love, love the Stephanie Plum series. Any time I want to read a hilarious, easy read, I choose Janet!

6. Rick Riordan - In my search to fulfill my reading life after Harry Potter, I came across Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series... and I fell in love. 

 

7. Karen Witemeyer - Her books don't come out fast enough for my liking, but they are totally worth the wait!

 

8. Susan May Warren - She is a new addition to my list of auto-buy authors. She captured my heart with the Christiansen family and I can't wait to read more books by her! Write faster, Susan!

9. Denise Hunter - Like Susan May Warren, Denise Hunter is a recent addition to my list. I love her books.

10. Katie Ganshert - When I think about an author who will provide me with a deep and meaningful story, full of emotion, God's love, and hope, I think of Katie. I can't wait to read more by this promising author!
